11/29/2023 0 Comments Warlock the undying![]() ![]() The Area of Effect quote indicates that the spell affects creatures inside the area of effect but doesn't use the word target to describe the creatures affected. The first quote indicates that the spell indicates whether the spell target creatures, objects or a point of origin. Many spells specify that a target can make a saving throw to avoid some or all of a spell's effects." "Every area of effect has a point of origin, a location from which the spell's energy erupts." Spells such as burning hands and cone of cold cover an area, allowing them to affect multiple creatures at once." A spell's description tells you whether the spell targets creatures, objects, or a point of origin for an area of effect (described below)." RAW is a little ambiguous which is why you get multiple conflicting answers.Ī typical spell requires you to pick one or more targets to be affected by the spell's magic. does "Target it with an attack or Harmful spell" mean target it with an attack or Target it with an Harmful spell? is it suppose to rule out AoEs like the reverse above? AoEs dont count when its the enemy agaisnt the warlock but doesnt state the same when the warlock AoEs the Enemy of undead. "An undead is also immune to this effect for 24 hours if you target it with an attack or a harmful spell." this makes sense to me, but then if thats the exception there this next part not stating it makes me question if RAW is missing some text at the end? "Ĭool this says AoE spells dont count for this. " If an undead targets you directly with an attack or a harmful spell, that creature must make a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC (an undead needn't make the save when it includes you in an area effect, such as the explosion of Fireball). i have a question about it and it has to do wit the first part. So i understand all of this except the last part. An undead is also immune to this effect for 24 hours if you target it with an attack or a harmful spell. On a successful save, the creature is immune to this effect for 24 hours. On a failed save, the creature must choose a new target or forfeit targeting someone instead of you, potentially wasting the attack or spell. If an undead targets you directly with an attack or a harmful spell, that creature must make a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC (an undead needn't make the save when it includes you in an area effect, such as the explosion of Fireball). Additionally, undead have difficulty harming you. ![]()
