Unchained of the duty of analyzing set impact, as Kaladesh appears to be making only a minor impression in Modern, the sky’s the limit as to what I can talk about! While I must admit I’m feeling the urge to discuss our current political landscape, how exactly the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are going to clinch the division, and the proper way to cook excellent Kraft Mac & Cheese, luckily my standing-order Modern topic restriction is keeping all these thoughts at bay. If it did, Uro would just exile itself before it even reached the battlefield would basically have the ability to pay UUGG and exile 6 cards from your grave to do absolutely nothing. With no SCG events to analyze, and the next Modern Grand Prix in Dallas still almost a month away, I’m left with a “free” topic of sorts this week. Uh, of course? Nowhere on the escape ability says you exile the spell. See rule 702.137, “Escape.”Īlso, escaping a spell doesn't exile the spell after it resolves, correct? I don't think it does, since Escape seems like an alternate casting cost and not an ability, but I'm not sure.Įscape - A keyword ability that lets a player cast a card from their graveyard. *Important note: death triggers like Wurmcoil, Kitchen Finks, or Arcbound Ravager's Modular don't trigger in the graveyard they actually trigger on the battlefield - on the condition that the zone they are moving to is the graveyard (Rest in Peace + Disenchant on Wurmcoil would prevent the death trigger because it's moving zones from battlefield to exile). If you're familiar with timestamps, this is similar to how Blood Moon vs Spreading Seas on a non-basic would work whether it's a Mountain or an Island depends on which was cast last. Becomes of timestamps, Yixlid Jailer's ability gets overwritten by Snapcaster's EtB. The only way to get around Jailer's effect is to give a card in the graveyard an ability after Jailer resolves, like casting Snapcaster or Underworld Breach after Jailer is put into play. Jailer also stops abilities that trigger in the graveyard*, like Emrakul AT, Creeping Chill, and Bridge From Below. No flashback, no dredge, no embalm, no escape, not even non-grave related abilities like trample. Yixlid Jailer makes all cards in graveyards become text-less, vanilla cards with no abilities. I was wondering if ] could prevent Uro from escaping.
